University History
Founded: On November 5, 1983, American Purlinton University (hereinafter “APU”) was founded as Chung Shan Medical Science Techniques Institute.
Renamed: On March 27, 1987, APU was renamed California International Pushington Medical College with California Department of Education No. 94311(D).
Incorporated: On March 11, 1994, APU was incorporated in California as Pushington University with Incorporation No. 1740606.
Renamed: On January 29, 1998, APU was renamed American Pushington University in the State of California amending Articles of Incorporation.
Certification: On August 17, 1999, APU was certified pursuant to California Education Code 94739 by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education State of California to award various degrees to students.
Non-profit status: On August 4, 1999, APU was granted the federal tax exemption status by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
Re-certification: On March 8, 2000, the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education State of California certified an extended list of degrees that APU may award to its students, including Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees in Oriental Medicine and Religion.
Renamed: On December 22, 2003, APU was renamed to its current name, i.e., American Purlinton University, by amending the corporate article.
CAPPS Membership: APU is a member of the California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS).
